I was wondering.....hoping actually.....that someone could point me in the direction of some good Cajun and/or Zydeco style bands.

Hmm, well the Radiators are from New Orleans (and sound like it), and even have a Cajun, Camile Baudoin, playing lead guitar, but I don't really think of them or Dr. John as being Cajun music, per se, let alone Zydeco. There's a definite Cajun influence on both the Rads and the good doctor, but no more than that.

A big thanks to all the suggestions. I'm a bit of a niteowl, so I'll be sure to check them out during my next late night download session.

Check out Donna The Buffalo -- not strictly zydeco, but they do some rockin' zydeco stuff in almost every show. Look for a show with Preston or Keith Frank sitting in, or search for tracks with "zydeco" in the titles (they're often listed as "zydeco jam" or "wild ass zydeco". Other Donna tracks to look for: Way Back When, Soileau Zydeco, Do My Thing, Hot Tamale Baby.

Marc Broussard is from LA and has some funky cajun style ... might not be what you're looking for but hopefully that helps. he's here on the archive, check out my recent 2004-10-20 recording from the belly up tavern here in san diego, it smokes!
